Fingerprint technology introduction
As the quick development of the science and technology, the optical fingerprint identification technology which applies the live body theory has been mature. With high security, its false acceptance rate is only 1/1000000, and the identifying speed is less than 1 second. While, the most important is that its cost is relatively lower. The optical fingerprint identification technique has a vast market development scope. According to the authoritative experts?estimate, in next one year this technique will clean out the intelligent cipher lock which is very popular at present.
This fingerprint identification technique contains 4 functions: reading the picture of fingerprint, getting the characteristic, storing data and comparing. At first, it gets picture of fingerprint by the fingerprint reader, and then make the original picture clear. Secondly, the fingerprint identifying software establishes characteristic date which is the embodiment of fingerprint, a kind of unilateralism conversion. Two different fingerprints can not result in the same data characteristic. The software finds out the minutiae such the crotches, circles of the fingerprint. One minutiae has more than 7 characteristics, Usually, one's finger has 70 minutiae. So it has at least 490 data which are called templates, It is stored as 1 K's record. At last, the computer compares the two templates, and then get the similarity degree and the result that whether they are matching or not.
Brief introduction for fingerprint. The fingerprint of human beings composes of lines which form various conjunctions, points, cores, separations, interruptions, island zones and triangle zones. ( see picture below.) The combination of these lines differs from one to another and marks the characters of fingerprint of each person. Since the 19th century's, through scientific research people have acknowledged that there would not be even 2 same fingerprints in the world unless occasionally to be found among every 1 billion people. Furthermore, fingerprint of human beings keeps unchanged within the whole life regardless of growth of years, changes of healthy condition, injury and recovering. 1:N algorithm of fingerprint identification. To scan the fingerprint and obtain the picture, separate the background and finally lead to a record of the characters of the fingerprint scanned. It is the record of characters been stored instead of the picture of the fingerprint, which in some countries it is forbidden as a violation to privacy for obtaining and storing people's fingerprint picture unless by governmental or security department.
This is a particular about the algorithm to be explained here that some so-called "fingerprint lock" with digital keyboard which applies 1:1 fingerprint contrast technology. Through this way, every time before you register or verify your fingerprint, you are requested to input a serial number (e.g. 01, 02, 03 ..) through digital keyboard. The central processor thus scans and stores the picture of fingerprint together with the serial number upon registration. For the next fingerprint access, it scan and contrast the fingerprint by the input serial number with the fingerprint picture stored according to serial number. Thus actually it is fingerprint picture contrast instead of identification.
The identification is to identify ones fingerprint from the others instead of contrast with pictures pre-existed. The really identification technology is called 1:N as we applied. While there is very big price difference between these two technologies and the central processor applied.
